(TDES, Inc.) celebrates the music and life of composer, bandleader and pianist Duke Ellington, to develop an appreciation and understanding of his music among all people.
Simply put, our membership consists of people who are interested in Duke Ellington. These include fans, musicians, researchers, scholars, and writers. We have members who knew Duke Ellington and spent a good deal of time with him. We also have members who know very little about Duke, but love jazz and want to find out more about him. Their love of Duke Ellington's music and that of Billy Strayhorn (Duke's collaborator) brings them together in a common bond. Members come from all over the world.
(TDES, Inc.) is the perfect place to discover his genius. Members can learn more through our monthly meetings, our newsletter, concerts, conferences and archives.
Many also participate in the internet discussion group: duke.lym@concordia.ca.
You are encouraged to join and bring your unique interest, talent and love of Duke's music to the Society. Your ideas on how to enjoy and promote the appreciation and understanding of the Maestro's music will be welcomed.
